Corel Painter II - The Journey Continues
[173]
$30.00USD

Course Description
This online class is the second part of a three part set of lessons, with each set of building upon the previous one. This course has been written for users of Painter IX.5, Painter X, and Corel's newest version, Painter 11. In the sections where instructions may vary according to the version of Painter being used, appropriate notations have been made.

This section will show you how to use layers in Painter, including the use of composite methods and transparency. You'll also learn how to create custom palettes and other custom items and how to back them up for safekeeping. You'll have fun exploring many of Painter's unique and/or useful effects, and Painter's vast libraries of Materials. You'll also learn how to use Layer Masks, and I'll even teach you how to draw or paint a straight line without using a ruler!

By the time you finish this online class, you'll be ready to either continue exploring Painter on your own, or to take more advanced classes using Corel Painter.

Course Recommendation

Painter has been optimized to integrate seamlessly with a Graphics (pressure sensitive) tablet such as the inexpensive Wacom Bamboo, or the multi-featured Wacom Intuos. Although you can use the program with a mouse, you will find many of the features to be most effective with a tablet. You may want to consider buying one at some point in time. There is initially a bit of a learning curve, but once you begin to use the tablet and pen in conjunction with Painter (and many other programs) you will be both amazed and excited by how real the painting and drawing effects seem as you work. Check out our academic resellers for discounts on hardware.

Course Excerpt

Welcome Back!

As the title of the class states, the next six weeks will be a continuation of the journey we began together in Level I. In the final lesson of Level I, we started to explore the Painter Layers palette, and in this first lesson of Level II, that exploration will continue. Putting together a set of tools for special paintings will be one of the topics for this week, and we're also going to review some of the skills you learned previously. In addition, you'll learn to paint a straight line with Painter, something many of you think you can't do...but that's not true, as you will see.

Continued...

Please note: Lessons provide step-by-step instructions with detailed screen captures.

Course Goals
By the time you've completed the six lessons which make up this class, you will have a good working knowledge of the basics of using Painter including the ability to create custom items and the knowledge of how to back them up. You will be comfortable working on multi-layered documents and using the drawing and painting tools and many of the effects which Painter provides. After this class is finished, you will be prepared to continue exploring on your own, or to take more advanced classes which will teach you how to paint with Painter, how to create unique customized brushes, or how to create Painterly cloned photographs. To quote John Derry, "Viva la Painter"!
