Course Excerpt
Lesson 1

I've been using Quicken since I started using computers. After I started using it, I wondered how I ever managed to keep track of my finances before it came along. Actually, I didn't :-) Now, I can't imagine even trying to manage without it.

Quicken provides you with electronic storage of all your bank account transactions. Imagine trying to get a report of your financial growth for, say 10 years, with box upon box of paper check stubs and bank account records. Impossible without driving you totally nuts! But, with Quicken, you can do that and so much more.

Among its many talents, it's an investment tracker, retirement planner, home budget creator, bill payer and reminder, a monitor for credit cards, business organizer, tax saver, and bank account supervisor rolled up in one neat little electronic package. Using Quicken makes you feel like you have a firm grip on all of the numbers that flow through your accounts.

Quicken is financial savvy. Hopefully, you will be as well when you finish this course. Before I go any further, on this lesson only, the images shown have 3 different looks to them. My computer required reformatting and I took these screenshots in various stages as I was reloading my software. It was easier to use the images I'd already captured than to start all over again, hence the differing "looks." Hopefully, this will be the only lesson where you see different styles in the images. I hope I don't have to do this for a very long time.

Anyway, let's get started.

Software Installation:

First thing you have to do is install the software :-) It's very straightforward and, unless you have a special directory you want to install it in, the default should be fine. That said, let's walk through the software installation:

Please note: Lessons provide step-by-step instructions with detailed screen captures.
