An introduction to scripting in Paint Shop Pro, this first course includes recording and editing scripts, as well as using print commands in scripts, using variables, debugging scripts with "try-except" logic, and introduction to the Python dictionary structure. This course lays the groundwork for further scripting courses which will delve more deeply into Python commands and programming.
Prerequisites: Students should have a working knowledge of Paint Shop Pro, version 8 or above. Familiarity with the Learning Center and installing Quick Guides is also recommended, as all lessons come in Quick Guide format. For an introduction to using Quick Guides, see Adding Tutorials as Quick Guides in PSP 8.

Requirements: Installed copy of Paint Shop Pro 8 or above. You can download a trial version of the current release at the Corel site HERE.
This course is now offered as self-study, and there is thus no instructor support. You do not need to turn in any assignments or post any homework. All of the course material is available for you to complete at your convenience. There is a classroom message board which you may use to communicate with other students who may be taking this class at the same time you are. Feel free to work through these lessons at your own pace....good luck and have fun!
Syllabus:
Week 1: Lesson01 - Exploring the Script toolbar and the Script Output palette, distinguishing between Restricted and Trusted Scripts, and recording and running a script.
Week 2: Lesson02 - Using the PSP Script Editor, introduction to the Text Editor, and printing scripts.
Week 3: Lesson03 - Becoming familiar and comfortable with the Text Editor, examining basic script format, adding comments to scripts, and changing dialog parameters using the Text Editor.
Week 4: Lesson04 - Adding "print" commands to Scripts.
Week 5: Lesson05 - Looking as some practical applications for "print" commands, introducing the concept of variables in scripts, and using "print" commands to assist in debugging problem scripts.
Week 6: Lesson06 - Examining the Python Dictionary structure and its use in Paint Shop Pro scripts, and introduction to using Materials in scripts.
