This class will focus strictly on photo editing with PI8, including color correction
techniques, selecting and changing backgrounds in photos, fixes for common problems like
red eye, resizing and sharpening detail, using PI8's new photo filters, adding objects to
existing photos, cloning out and cloning in and printing photos directly from the work
space.
Students are eligible for a 15% discount on any software purchased directly from Ulead.
Details will be found in the classroom.
Prerequisites: Intro to PhotoImpact 8.
Requirements: Students must know how to upload images and files to their
own server and reference them online. If you don't have your own website, you may utilize
the LVS Free Student Hosting or the student upload area. Details will be found in the
classroom. Homework must be reviewed by the instructor in order to earn a certificate.

Week 1 - Color Correction
Levels, Tone Map, Color Balance, Highlight/Midtone/Shadow and Brightness & Contrast
Week 2 - Making & Managing Selections
Softened Vignettes, Replacing Backgrounds, Selection Manager, and Color Range, Threshold and Calculation selections
Week 3 - PI8 Gallery Effects
Learn to use new Photographic filters, Particles, Lighting and other EasyPalette special effects; how to edit and use frames in the Frame Gallery.
Week 4 - Composite Image Artistry
How to make and use your own and commercial objects, and grayscale masks to create collages and other hybrid images.
Week 5 - Quick Fixes for Suboptimal Photos
Use PI8's built in features to correct problems in scanned photos, correct red eye and colorize old photos, sharpen focus and more.
Week 6 - Printing Photos
Understanding resolution, file size and physical size; CMYK, Print Multiple, using the Crop tool effectively.
