Corel Painter: PhotoPainting & Portraiture I
[157]
$30.00USD

Course Description

A number of times I've heard people say "I can't paint, not even a straight line" - the wonderful news is ... Corel has provided Painter software that enables the most amateur of artists to paint beautiful painterly paintings. I am delighted to help you learn this. However, like all painting and drawing, it does require lots of patience and practise. Once you've been bitten by the PhotoPainting bug you won't want to stop!.

This class is the first in the series of PhotoPainting & Portraiture. You start with the basics, like cloning then on to painting Still Life, Landscapes and eventually Portraits and much, much more making application of Painter's brushes and textures that are available, plus creating your own to add embellishments to your paintings.. Each lesson you are given an image(s) and step by step instruction on how to transform a photograph into a painting. You are then requested to paint your own. Don't feel daunted by this because before you know it, you'll be painting and showing off your wonderful talent as a painter/artist.

Special Class Requirements: It is a requirement that you have completed Painter Brushes I and Painter Brushes II classes, or have very good knowledge of Painter's brushes and how to make application of them, prior to registering for this class.

Important Note: The instructor does not allow students to enroll in more than one PhotoPainting & Portraiture class at any one time. Nor is it permitted to take Painter Brushes classes, Collage classes and PhotoPainting & Portraiture classes in conjunction with each other. If you enroll in more than one class, the instructor will ask you to leave. The reason for this requirement is because these classes are very involved and a lot of work and concentration is needed. Skimming through the class material will not help you to gain a full understanding of the course and what is involved with PhotoPainting. It also takes lots of practice to become accomplished with Painter. The PhotoPainting and Portraiture classes must be taken in order.

This is a 5 week, self-paced, online course. If you need additional help understanding the material presented, you can communicate with the instructor and fellow classmates. The instructor will monitor and track your progress throughout the class. LVS Online offers many wonderful learning tools to help you get the most out of your online course, including an online portfolio service that manages all your course registrations, certificate of completion option, a class discussion board to interact with your instructor and fellow classmates, free hosting account, and a student upload area.

Course Excerpt
What makes a good photograph for PhotoPainting? A photograph that has strong areas between shadows and highlights, why? because you are painting light and dark, no matter what the painting is. To choose a photograph study it, consider the colours, the contrast. To try paint something that is not in the photograph is not easy. If you are taking your own photographs choose a time of day that's best, which is early morning or late afternoon, particularly outdoor photography. So, be mindful when selecting a photograph and ask yourself, 'will this make a good painting?' Once you start PhotoPainting you won't want to stop!

Course Reviews
Violet:
"I learned a lot about painting. I'd never painted before I started these series of classes, so I knew nothing about mixing and blending paint."
