Course Excerpt
LESSON 1
Welcome. I do hope you enjoy this class and have fun learning. This class is a continuation of the Intro Piano/Keyboard class. The objectives are the same as in the Intro Piano/Keyboard class; that is, to learn to read and play music, do some theory, and some aural work and learn to play in good rhythm.

I have compiled some sound files for this class. You may listen to them and play along with them. They are indicated with a blue font. A word highlighted in yellow, signifies that you will have some practice to carry out. The word 'key-bed' is indicated in a green font, and only applies to the piano.

This week features on the four four time signature, the minim note and minim rest, legato, two note slurs.

Four Four Time Signature:
This is the Four Four Time Signature. The top number indicates the number of beats in each measure (bar). The bottom number indicates the note value receiving one beat. The four on the bottom indicates a crotchet (quarter note) receives one beat. You may say that the four isn't a quarter, and I would agree with you. Imagine a 'one' is above the 'four' to represent a quarter. Four on top and one quarter on the bottom.

Course Goals
Upon completion of this course you will be able to play the piano and/or keyboard proficiently.

Course Reviews
Shirley:
A great review on Theory and the availability of sound files especially seeing I could do the setup so that they would play over and over again as my piano is quite a distance from my computer.
