Photography with a Digital SLR
[270]
$30.00USD

Course Description

This course was written by Ron Lacey and will be taught by Peter Mayer.

Author Ron Lacey has been an avid amateur photographer for over thrity-five years. His photographic weapon of choice has always been the single lens reflex camera or SLR and since 2001 the digital SLR. During that time he has become proficient in most aspects of SLR photography. Samples of his work can be seen at www.borealphotography.com

In the last few years the prices for DSLRs have dropped significantly. So much so that even the casual photographer can justify the cost. Even as prices dropped the cameras became much more sophisticated and the images they were capable of producing of higher quality. In 2001 Canon introduced the first ground up DSLR, the EOS D30 a 3mp camera with a MSRP of $3500. Today you have many models to choose from from makers like Pentax, Nikon, Olympus, Canon and Sony all of which weigh in at 10mp or more some with price tags as low as $500.

This class is designed to help you take advantage of all the features available on a modern DSLR and enable you to produce the high quality photographs these cameras are capable of. We'll also try and guide you in tailoring your DSLR system system to your needs advising on what lenses and accessories are best suited for your particular style and photographic interests. Of course there is much more to photography than hardware. You'll find out what makes a good photograph and how to improve your own photos by learning the basics of light good composition.
