CoffeeCup Software was started inside a real coffeehouse in the early summer of 1996. Back then, good software to create cool Websites was really hard to find. Since 1996, CoffeeCup Software has been making easy-to-use software. If you’re just getting started or if you already have a Website, their suite of web design and web site enhancing software will have you up and running a snazzy site in no time. CoffeeCup Software is shareware, which means if you don't already own it, you can download it and try it without having to pay for it. If you need additional help understanding the material presented, you can communicate with the instructor and fellow classmates. The instructor will monitor and track your progress throughout the class. Course Requirements

A willingness to learn how to use the CoffeeCup programs. You will not be learning how to create web pages or write flash code. You will, however, learn to get aound the programs to help to do those other things well. There will be Zip files provided to complete many of the weekly exercises. WinZip, Windows Compression or a similar program (CoffeeCup Free Zip Wizard) is required to unzip these files. Winzip Tutorial Here Windows Compression Students must have a working knowledge of their operating system, especially: How to create and name new folders How to locate files How to open and save files Here are a few free tutorials available at LVS which may be helpful to you: Free Windows Class Directory Structure Tutorial Homework must be reviewed by the instructor in order to earn a certificate. Students have the option of using their website, the Student Upload Area or free web hosting made available for LVS students. Details are provided in the classroom. If you prefer to use your own web space, you must know how to upload your files to a server. Free tutorials are available: Basic HTML Page WS_FTP SmartFTP CoffeeCup Free FTP All lessons are available in PDF format. Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to view/print the lessons. Plan to devote 3 - 4 hours per week on the lesson and assignment.

Course Prerequisites

Knowledge of HTML is recommended for learning the HTML editor. HTML is not taught in this course. The free Basic HTML tutorial may be helpful.

Course Excerpt

LESSON 1 The HTML Editor The CoffeeCup HTML editor has been around since 1996 – and I’ve been using it that long. It’s a wonderful program and it’s had amazing staying power. While other web editors have come and gone, CoffeeCup is still around and still strong. It’s had 12 years to refine itself and its managed to keep up with the ever-changing web environment. To start with, if you haven’t already done so, install the program. It’s straight forward and easy to do. Unless you want to install in a place other than the default, just follow the prompts.
